Welcome!

My name is Natasha Goel. I am a PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto in the Department of Political Science and a Research Fellow at the Policy, Elections, and Representation Lab (PEARL)

My research lies at the intersection of political psychology and political communication, with interests in persuasion, mis/disinformation, polarization, affect, intergroup relations, and trust. You can find my Google Scholar profile here.

My dissertation examines how people make sense of political information, how (false) beliefs consolidate, and what it takes to update or correct them. Specifically, I study (1) what kinds of group-based threats bias the evaluation of information, (2) whether artificial intelligence can disrupt biased reasoning and reduce false beliefs, and (3) how we might increase demand for credible information in an evolving media ecosystem.

Outside of academia, I enjoy running, live music, movies, exploring new cities, and discovering good food and wine.
