Welcome!
My name is Natasha Goel. I am a PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto in the Department of Political Science and a Research Fellow at the Policy, Elections, and Representation Lab (PEARL) and the Media Ecosystem Observatory (MEO).
My research lies at the intersection of political communication and political psychology. I study how people engage with information in evolving media ecosystems, how (false) beliefs form and consolidate, and what it takes to update or correct them. My interests extend to questions of intergroup relations, mis/disinformation, AI and politics, digital media, and trust.
I specialize in survey and experimental design, causal inference, and computational methods including NLP and machine learning.
My work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Political Behavior and The Canadian Geographer and featured in outlets such as Tech Policy Press and the Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP). You can find my Google Scholar profile here.
Outside of research, I enjoy running, movies, exploring new cities, and discovering good food and wine.
